Back
Since I remember myself as a thoughtful human being, I remember myself drawing. In the floor, walls, table, or the typical sheet of paper. I’d especially enjoy imagining daily situations, such as cities in which there were houses, stores, supermarkets, churches, cars and happy people living together in an utopian world. The innocent and pure line of a child gave birth to buildings, flowers, trees, rivers and seas, human beings and animals.
What fascinates me so much about architecture and urbanism is doing something similar to what I used to do in my childhood, the capability of drawing livable and pleasurable sceneries. The way our drawings influences one’s vision and fruition of a place and the way it interferes with one’s state of mind makes our job as hard as fascinating. It’s “the most beautiful profession in the world”, said professor and architect Francisco Silva Dias, in a way that mixing art with technique we can contribute for a healthier, prettier and cozier place to live.
Beyond architecture and urbanism, one of the many arts that fascinate me and which I look forward to improve every day is photography. Cinema and music are also things that I could not dissociate from my daily routine.
